What Even Is Mushroom Coffee?
Before you ask - no, it doesn’t taste like mushrooms. I was skeptical too.
Mushroom coffee is regular coffee mixed with extracts from medicinal mushrooms like lion’s mane, chaga, and reishi. The idea is you get the alertness from coffee but with less of the jittery, anxious feeling and without crashing hard in the afternoon.
I started trying these after my third cup of regular coffee one day left me feeling like my heart was going to explode. Not great. So I went looking for alternatives.

This is the real question. Mushroom coffee costs 3-4x what regular coffee costs per cup.
Worth it if: You get jitters or anxiety from regular coffee, you crash hard in the afternoon, or you’re curious about functional mushrooms and want an easy way to try them.
Not worth it if: Regular coffee works fine for you, you’re just looking for caffeine, or the budget matters more than the potential benefits.
