Your Mouse Actually Matters
I used to think a mouse was a mouse. Then I upgraded from some random office mouse to an actual gaming mouse and my tracking improved noticeably in about a week. The right mouse just feels better - smoother movements, better clicks, less hand fatigue.
I’ve gone through probably a dozen gaming mice over the years trying to find what works. Here’s what I’ve learned.

1. Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2
There’s a reason you see this mouse everywhere in esports. It weighs 60g, which feels like nothing. The HERO 2 sensor tracks flawlessly. Wireless connection is indistinguishable from wired.
I’ve been using one for about 6 months and the battery lasts forever - I charge it maybe once every few weeks. The shape is pretty safe too, works for most grip styles.
Only real complaint is it’s expensive for a mouse with no RGB and minimal features. But for competitive FPS? Hard to beat.
2. Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro
The DeathAdder shape has been around forever because it works. If you palm grip, this thing fits your hand like it was made for it.
My brother has one and swears it’s the most comfortable mouse he’s ever used. The ergonomic shape means less strain during long sessions. Build quality is solid, wireless is reliable, sensor is excellent.
The shape is very specific though - if you don’t palm grip, look elsewhere. But if you do, this might be your endgame mouse.
3. Pulsar X2
This is what I recommend to people who don’t want to spend Logitech or Razer money. The X2 weighs 52g, has a flagship sensor, and costs significantly less.
Pulsar isn’t as well known as the big brands but the quality is there. Symmetrical shape works for most grip styles. Battery life is solid. I tried one for a few weeks and honestly couldn’t tell a difference from mice costing 50% more.

4. SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless
MMO mice are weird. You need a bunch of buttons but they’re usually heavy and uncomfortable. The Aerox 9 somehow has 18 programmable buttons and still only weighs 89g.
My guild leader uses one for FFXIV and WoW. It takes time to get used to all the side buttons but once you do, having your rotations at your fingertips is nice. It’s water resistant too, which is a random feature that might matter to some people.
Not for FPS obviously. But for MMO and MOBA players who want extra buttons without the brick weight, this is the one.
5. Logitech G502 X Plus
The G502 has been popular for years because it does everything. Adjustable weights, tons of buttons, good sensor, works for any game type.
My cousin uses one for literally everything - shooters, strategy games, work. The infinite scroll wheel is oddly satisfying. Build quality is excellent.
It’s heavier than the lightweight mice at 106g, which competitive players won’t like. But if you want one mouse that handles everything and has every feature imaginable, the G502 X Plus delivers.

Palm Grip
Your whole hand rests on the mouse. Most relaxed, least precise control.

Specs That People Overthink
DPI: Most pros use 800-1600 DPI. Higher numbers aren’t better, they’re just faster. Find what works for you.
Polling Rate: 1000Hz is standard and fine. 4000Hz+ exists and is technically better but you probably won’t notice.
Weight: 50-80g for competitive FPS. 80-120g if you prefer some heft. Personal preference.
Wireless: Modern 2.4GHz wireless is as good as wired now. Latency excuses are outdated.
Sensors: Every flagship sensor (HERO, Focus Pro, PAW3395) tracks perfectly. Don’t stress about sensor choice in 2026, they’re all excellent.
