Vacuums Have Come a Long Way
A good vacuum makes a real difference in how your home feels. And cordless technology has improved so much that stick vacuums can genuinely compete with corded uprights now. No more dragging cords from outlet to outlet.
I’ve tested quite a few of these over the past couple years, so here’s what’s actually worth buying.
Top 5 Vacuum Cleaners
1. Dyson V15 Detect
The green laser thing sounds like a gimmick until you use it. It reveals so much dust you didn’t know was there. Kind of disturbing actually. My floors looked clean before using it, and then… yeah.
The particle counter on the screen shows real-time data on what you’re picking up, which is oddly satisfying. Suction power is excellent, and it auto-adjusts to different floor types without you having to change settings.
It’s expensive though. And the dustbin is smaller than I’d like - you’ll empty it more often than a corded vacuum.

2. Shark Stratos Cordless — Great Value
Shark makes really good vacuums that don’t cost as much as Dyson. The Stratos has smart suction adjustment, a self-cleaning brushroll (huge for pet owners), and even odor neutralizing tech.
My friend has this one and swears by it. Says it handles her two golden retrievers’ worth of fur without any issues. It’s heavier than some competitors, but the performance-to-price ratio is excellent.

3. Miele Complete C3 — The Buy-It-For-Life Option
German engineering at its finest. This vacuum is powerful, incredibly quiet, and built to last literally 20 years. If you want a “buy it once” kind of vacuum, this is it.
Canister style isn’t for everyone - you have to drag the unit around behind you. But the suction power and filtration are excellent, and Miele’s reputation for durability is well-earned.

4. Tineco Pure ONE S15 Pro
The smart sensor detects dirt and automatically increases suction where needed. There’s an LCD screen showing battery, suction level, and cleaning status. It connects to an app too if you’re into that sort of thing.
Tineco isn’t as well-known as Dyson or Shark, but this vacuum performs well and costs less. Lighter weight too. The app is hit or miss depending on who you ask, but you don’t really need it anyway.

5. Bissell CrossWave HydroSteam — For Hard Floors
If you have mostly hard floors, this is kind of genius. It vacuums and washes at the same time, and the steam option sanitizes without chemicals. One pass and your floors are actually clean-clean, not just vacuumed.
Not great on carpet though - this is really a hard floor machine. And you have to empty the dirty water tank after each use, which isn’t everyone’s favorite chore.
