Why I Finally Caved and Bought These
I resisted buying Lululemon for years. Paying over $100 for leggings felt ridiculous when I could grab a decent pair from Target for $25. But after hearing so many people rave about the Align leggings specifically, curiosity got the better of me.
Three months in, here’s what I actually think.
The Fabric Is Something Else
The first time I put these on, I understood what people meant by “buttery soft.” The Nulu fabric feels genuinely different from anything else I’ve worn. It’s hard to describe - almost like wearing nothing at all, but in a good way.
That said, the material is thin. Really thin. I’ve been careful about what underwear I wear with them because they’re not exactly squat-proof in lighter colors. My black pair is fine, but I probably wouldn’t buy white or light grey.
How They Hold Up
Here’s where I’m a bit mixed. The comfort is unbeatable for yoga, lounging, and light errands. But these aren’t workout leggings in the traditional sense. The fabric pills if you’re not careful - I noticed some fuzzing on the inner thighs after about six weeks of regular wear.
Lululemon will actually replace them if they pill within a year, which is nice. I just wish they held up better on their own.
For high-intensity workouts, I’d probably reach for something more durable. But for yoga class or working from home? Nothing beats them.
Fit and Sizing
I ordered my usual size and they fit perfectly. The high waist sits comfortably without rolling down, even during downward dog. The length options are helpful too - I went with the 25” since I’m 5’4”.
One thing worth mentioning: these don’t have a lot of compression. If you like that “held in” feeling, these might feel too relaxed. Personally, I appreciate that they don’t dig in anywhere.
The Price Question
Are they worth $100+? Honestly, it depends on what you want them for. For yoga and everyday wear, the comfort genuinely is superior. I find myself reaching for them constantly.
But if you need leggings that can handle intense workouts without showing wear, there are more durable options at lower price points.
What I like:
- Incredibly soft, lightweight fabric
- Flattering high-rise fit
- No front seam (a small detail that matters)
- Quality guarantee for pilling
What could be better:
- Durability isn’t great for the price
- Limited to low-impact activities
- Light colors show everything
- The price tag still stings
Would I Buy Again?
I’ve actually already bought a second pair, so that probably answers the question. But I stick to black and only wear them for yoga or casual days. For anything more intense, I grab cheaper leggings I don’t need to baby.
If you catch them on sale during a rare Lululemon markdown, even better.
